Logistics and transport activities account for about 14% of the emission of gases that accelerate climate change in the world. Therefore, the logistics sector has a great responsibility for the implementation of good ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) practices that can minimize environmental impacts, promote the construction of a fairer society and more efficient administration processes. According to the ESG Radar 2023, worldwide ESG investment in organizations is expected to reach $53 trillion by 2025.

“Today, businessmen active in Brazilian logistics understand that applying ESG in the context of the operation is to make performance effective in the environmental, social and governance areas”

In Brazil, the concept is widespread and several sectors invest in projects with this appeal. Here, ESG gained enormous strength and importance due to the growth of the production chain. Today, businessmen active in Brazilian logistics understand that applying ESG in the context of the operation is to make performance effective in the environmental, social and governance areas.

It is also clear that the practice has been relevant, including in relation to consumer decision-making.

We have the Active Sustainability project, which develops various environmental and social initiatives and improvements to our internal processes, we have structured a department focused on ESG, whose mission is to map existing initiatives, structure information and develop new projects together with the areas of business. We believe that the health and beauty product logistics segment has great potential for the development of many ESG-focused initiatives.

As an example, we implemented a pilot project with trucks, which received the installation of solar panels. The technology was applied to reduce diesel consumption and increase battery life, and we won awards for this initiative. Today, our employees are encouraged daily to separate organic waste at all units. The material is sent for selective collection according to the schedule of each city.

The Ativa Logística Control Tower already has consolidated data for our internal analysis regarding the most effective routes for a given delivery to generate greater speed and less fuel costs, and consequently the reduction of pollutants in the environment. At our unit in São Paulo (SP), we have a dedicated structure focused on recycling, where we treat all waste produced by our operation, as well as reconditioning pallets, recycling paper, cardboard, wood, among others.

As a result, we avoided cutting hundreds of trees and using thousands of liters of water in the last year alone.

We also develop social projects with institutions for the collection of food, clothing and hygiene items, we support initiatives against the sexual exploitation of children and teenagers on Brazilian highways, we carry out awareness campaigns for work safety and to combat domestic violence against women, between others.

It is a premise of our management to invest in certifications and audits that provide security and quality of our operations. The “5S Audit” project promotes discipline through everyone’s awareness and responsibility, in order to make the environment pleasant, safe and productive. Disque Ativa, on the other hand, is a direct communication channel that allows employees and other people to confidentially report any unethical conduct within the organization, ensuring risk reduction and building trust and taking action with our managers. The LGPD rules protect the fundamental rights of freedom and privacy and the free formation of each individual’s personality.

The entire context mentioned above is based on the ESG concept, which we believe is a one-way path to preserving nature, building a balanced business environment and a society with more respect for others.
